What you need to know about the job

An opening exists for a Scheduler (P6) I to join our Project Controls Team in Pasadena, Texas, and be assigned to a job site in Baytown, Texas, or the nearby region. You must have significant expertise in scheduling activities for several disciplines or crafts in order to be a Scheduler (P6). It is necessary to have experience in capital projects, turnarounds/outages, or daily maintenance planning. To arrange maintenance, turnarounds, small capital projects, or a combination of the three, may be asked of the applicant.

Functional Preconditions

Create and keep up a resource-heavy, integrated timetable using finish-to-start relationships. Create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that includes deliverable milestones. Utilize the Critical Path Method (CPM) to schedule deliverables, create histograms, and give reports to the management team while keeping track of progress.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities: (Other tasks as delegated)

• Work with the customer to develop naming guidelines, WBS, formats, and activity codes.

• Establish the most efficient building route for maintenance to system turnover by working with planners.

• Explain the rationale, underlying assumptions, and details behind your timetable estimations.

• Schedule AWP procedures with a focus on the changeover from construction or maintenance to system turnover.

• As necessary, keep track of the performance of the Engineer Work Package (EWP), Procurement Work Package (PWP), and Installation Work Package (IWP).

• Work cooperatively with the client, leadership, and the relevant disciplines to get "buy-in" on the final schedule before distributing it to the field.

• Track development in relation to the specified baseline

• Utilizing CPM concepts, create resource histograms and do value analysis.

• Work together with field supervision to assess progress and determine a course of action that includes recovery measures.

• Speak up when necessary and provide substitutes.

Preferred work history

• Four (4) years of experience scheduling industrial maintenance, construction projects, small or major capital projects, outages, or turnarounds utilizing Oracle Primavera P6 software

• Two (2) years of experience in a mechanical skill on a job site, a BS in construction management, or coursework in a similar field

• Another advantage is having NCCER certification as a trade journeyman or foreman in industrial construction or maintenance turnaround.

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Preferable knowledge of software application planning. 

• Understanding of the various project control cycles and the tools that support them

Specific Job Site Requirements
