The Responsibilities

  • Each employee at Last Mile Health (LMH) is a custodian of the company's resources and reputation. Do you have a lot of experience developing institutional donors' businesses in the field of international development? If so, you may be the next Senior Director of Business Development for our company.
  • Building a solid pipeline of possible awards will be the responsibility of the Senior Director, of Business Development, who will report to the Managing Director of the Partnerships & Communications (P&C) Team. Along with managing the pre-award procedure for restricted institutional donor grants, the Senior Director will also have expertise working with institutional donors (the US government and other countries, Gavi, and/or The Global Fund). In accordance with the organization's programming and revenue growth plans, this post will coordinate efforts with P&C and LMH leadership to raise an increasing share of institutional donor money over the next five years.
  • National and foreign candidates that reside in or are prepared to move to Accra, Ghana are eligible for this position. Candidates with US work permission who live on the East Coast of the country are also eligible for this position.

What You Will Be Doing

Commercial Development

  • Keep an eye on donor objectives, donor strategies, and predictions often to make sure LMH is informed of financing and partnership activities in a timely way.
  • Implement and manage marketing and partnership initiatives to enhance LMH's reputation with potential donors and implementing partners (primes/subs); assist other LMH executives in taking part in these procedures.
  • Oversee and take the lead in creating RFI answers, concept notes, and grant applications; Ensure effective communication and schedules for proposal development.
  • By creating briefing materials for other LMH executives and attending meetings with them, you can ensure strong cross-organizational partnerships, especially at the HQ level. You may also represent LMH at pertinent gatherings and events.
  • For the purpose of assessing opportunities and pursuing financing, establish relationships with internal teams to ensure that they are aware of LMH's programming and future objectives.

Building internal systems

  • Create standardized procedures and methods for LMH's pursuit of institutional donor awards.
  • Create and implement internal orientation/training programs for additional staff members so they are familiar with these systems and procedures.
  • Standard Operating Procedures for opportunity vetting, proposal formulation, and pre- through post-award transfer should be revised and implemented consistently.
  • Implement procedures for raising internal knowledge of institutional awards and developing plans for pursuing them (for instance, engagement strategies with country teams and routine pipeline assessments).
  • Establish a method for sharing material across P&C to ease the strain of collaboration with program teams; utilize Salesforce and Google shared drives to keep track of relationship management and proposal submissions. Knowledge management

Managing people and leading a team

  • Direct managerial duties for the Institutional Business Development Manager
  • Develop a strong business development culture throughout the organization by putting orientations, training, and capacity building into practice.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of cross-team professional development and team-building events to play the role of a major P&C team leader.

The items you'll bring

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Expertise in creating internal business development tools for pipeline management and securing restricted grant money, as well as extensive knowledge of institutional donor business development
  • A proven track record of developing winning proposals with governments and international organizations (USAID experience is required)
  • Experience with international development in the health industry Proven people management skills
  • Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing, even across cultures
  • A strong focus on processes; the capacity to recognize, assign, and monitor process stages
  • The capacity to convey job priorities to key internal and external parties
  • Knowledge of the Google suite (including Gmail, Google Drive, etc.)

SLB-5 is the band for this position.
Depending on experience doing a similar function, the range for all nations is $101,112 USD to $118,531 USD in yearly earnings. Please be aware that remuneration is taxed as required.
